Creating a Killer Sales Page to Move People to ActionDecember 24, 2009
Writing sizzling website and sales letter copy is an art. And it is one way to build real results — results NOW — and that is how we create CEO freedom. Let’s look at email first. There are 3 chances to sell in an email:
#1. In the subject. Make sure it is catchy, makes someone want to open it.
#2. In the copy. Make sure it speaks to their needs, is concise and compelling. Results now comes from being USEFUL so remember to put value into everything you write.
#3. In the click. When they click through, where do they go? Does the copy on the sales page support that of the emails? Does it build on the initial messaging they already received? Do you feel ANY emotion when you read the email or sales page copy? Emotion is what it is all about. Emotion moves people to action… and action is exactly what you want. When you read good copy it stirs you up—like a good headline that grabs you. Does the copy make you feel mad, greedy, sexy? Does it evoke feelings of money, sex, power or feelings of inadequacy in the areas of money, sex, power? It should. Remember, we are stirring up emotions here. Does your copy provide stories with a villain and/or a hero (hopefully your product) to save the day? Is there drama, passion, pain and suffering, shock and awe? What makes people want what you are offering?
Of course, before you begin to offer something, make sure your audience wants it. Can they taste it on their tongue like a cool grape in summer? Can they feel it on their skin like ice melting? Can they hear the music of it (your offer) and want to dance to it? Can they see the bursting lights like fireworks on a dark Independence Day night? Does it move them to feelings of power and passion and joy?
Because that is what you’re aiming for, my friends. And to grow your business, you’re going to need to get emotional with your prospects. I’ll say it again: emotion moves people to action. So read other people’s web copy, and re-read your own web copy before sending it and ask: Where is the desire, the passion, the craving for the outcome that is promised?
You’ve gotta feel it.
