MVP. Party With Your People!
May 10, 2010Volunteerism – A way to support others … AND yourself! – PART TWO
May 14, 2010A few weeks back, we talked about the joy of volunteering – and earlier this week I shared about my own rockin’ team of volunteers at my 7 Figure Business Summit. Hopefully, you’ve taken my advice to heart and gotten a taste of it. Congratulations! By adding a service component to your life, you’re well on your way to achieving balance.
But the challenge is, how do you make it a part of your long-term strategy? Here are 3 tips to integrating a service component into your lifestyle – and I’ll share two more later this week.
1. Find A Cause That Feeds Your Soul: You’ll know it when you find it, because you’ll get excited and uplifted at the mere thought of being involved. And it’s okay if you find multiple causes, because you can always rotate them. Look into civil rights, abused kids, homelessness, women’s halfway houses, and AIDS awareness.
2. Commit To A “One A Week” Program. Either give an hour a week or an hour’s worth of salary to a cause. Whatever amount feels right…just give something! Too busy? Then batch up your time and/or money and give in chunks.
3. Schedule Your Service Time: After you make a commitment to yourself, get it on your schedule to ensure it happens. Write it on your calendar, and make this an unbreakable date.
